Siting / GIS
With a proprietary GIS platform designed for scale and adaptability, our team quickly pinpoints top-tier sites across multi-state regions in collaboration with Candela’s other teams. Custom dashboards and mobile field apps enable real-time collaboration and smarter, faster decision-making across the engineering, transmission, and community engagement teams. We leverage GIS data to identify high-value land opportunities by aggregating public and private data, conducting robust due diligence, strategically maintaining land positions and maximizing resource efficiency.
REAL ESTATE
Informed by fundamental analysis and deep institutional knowledge of all U.S. power markets, permitting and real estate expertise, our real estate team obtains lease and purchase options for land, easements, mineral rights and title insurance. Once we have established site control, we work closely with landowners to ensure positive, trusted relationships that lead to the greatest value for all parties.
Interconnection and Transmission
Candela oversees the interconnection process from application to LGIA execution, coordinating with transmission utilities and RTOs to ensure timely construction and completion of the interconnection facilities. We thoroughly evaluate near- and long-term interconnection attributes through extensive market analysis, power flow studies and basis studies to identify optimal points of interconnection.
Permitting
Our permitting team oversees our projects from inception and early stakeholder engagement through completion of all environmental studies and government approvals. We conduct early diligence, prepare environmental studies, submit applications, and guide projects to final permit approvals. Working closely with agencies, experts, communities and other stakeholders, we approach every project with an emphasis on land stewardship, community engagement and responsible development practices. This approach enables a competitive and responsibly developed portfolio of assets across private, federal, state, and tribal lands.
Engineering
We oversee the design of projects and deploy the latest equipment and construction techniques to minimize changes to natural topography and soil conditions. We select the most suitable and cost-effective systems to match existing site characteristics. This ensures cost-effective construction conditions and predictable long-term operational results. Working with our trusted engineering and construction partners, we incorporate the latest technologies to maximize generation and grid compatibility.
Origination
We negotiate and execute high-value PPAs while maintaining relationships with major renewable energy buyers – including electric utilities, commercial & industrial buyers, community choice aggregators and retail providers. We track market trends and regulatory filings in markets across the U.S. to inform our competitive proposals.
Community Engagement
Our project communities benefit from clean energy, significant workforce training, employment opportunities and substantial tax revenues. We work with local decision-makers and stakeholders to maximize these benefits while also avoiding, minimizing and mitigating impacts from our projects on the local community.
